Serenity at the End of the Great Ocean Road -- Logan’s Beach Spa Retreat

Oddball, a very special Maremma dog, is the star of the new movie of the same name set in Warrnambool, Victoria, three hours from Melbourne, along the Great Ocean Road. Helping save the endangered penguins on Middle Island, just off the mainland, this friendly dog has put the area into the national spotlight. After visiting the Shipwreck Coast and exploring the rocky, dramatic coastline, treat yourself to a visit to Logan’s Retreat Beach Spa Retreat. Minutes from whale breeding grounds, the spa is located amongst acres of gently rolling hills. Of historical significance to the Australian Aboriginal community, there were many gatherings of clans in the area.
Drawing inspiration from local culture as well as seeking help for her own highly sensitive skin, Kristie Hayden, the owner of the Spa, envisioned having a “lifestyle and wellness retreat,” that offered natural therapies, spa treatments, and physical health (yoga, meditation, exercise, and walks) that can be “implemented on a daily basis to decrease stress in everyday life.”
I enjoyed a delicately scented cup of Yulu tea, a special blend of lemon murtle, aniseed murtle and rosella flower, along with other aromatic herbs. Heading off with Brody, my Beauty Therapist, I entered a subtly lit room with soft music playing.
I closed my eyes and enjoyed a special Aboriginal smoking and cleansing ritual, the “Wullama Yulu,” or “Journey of Aroma.”
The Kodo Massage had begun. I found my lower back pain melting away as Brody applied firm yet gentle pressure to my problem areas. The Rejuventing Oil used smelled wonderful. The rhythmic massage, inspired by traditional Aboriginal techniques, is a combination of pressure points and spiraling movements that helps relieve muscular tension.
After the massage, fully relaxed, I enjoyed the Li’Tya Mikiri Facial. It started with double cleaning using Lillypilly Cream Cleanser, and Lillypilly Gel Cleanser and afterward I enjoyed a cooling spritz with Wild Rosella Hydrating Mist. This was followed by a Wattleseed Protein Polish, a wonderful exfoliator, and was my favorite part of the facial. The Tasmanian Kelp Hydrating Mask was then applied. Relaxing with the mask, I dozed off for a few seconds. I then had the Facial Oil for sensitive skin applied to my face and the Boronia Eye Cream applied to my eye area. The Marine Algae Hydrating Cream and the Australian Native Lip Balm were the last part of this wonderful facial.
Logan’s uses the Li’Tya line of skincare products, carefully crafted using sustainably wild harvested Australian ingredients. Pure essential oils and ingredients such as lillypilly and wild rosella, made my skin look, feel, and smell great. I highly recommend spending time after your treatment at the bath house, the indoor salt water pool, the hydrotherapy spa, the dry heat sauna, or the cooling spray-mist tunnel. All of which are located on the premises.
Come and enjoy a half, or full day of beauty treatments at this fabulous retreat -- a truly delightful place to come and relax.
