Madison Avenue’s ultra-chic Nello restaurant is a celebrity-laden atmosphere of fine food and New York ambiance. This is clearly Manhattan’s answer to L.A.’s The Ivy when it comes to “the place to be seen,” but the albeit pricey menu, shines.
Fresh flowers enhance the brightly lit dining room that opens onto Madison Avenue and people watching is always world class. Consisting of an array of finely dressed individuals from all over the world, the scene at Nello is that of casual sophistication and one that speaks of quality.
The Carciofi (thinly sliced baby artichoke, avocado, white truffle oil and parmigiano) alongside a perfectly executed Hendrick’s martini proved to be a delicious way to kick start our palate. For the lover of truffles, the Filet Mignon Carpaccio with black truffle is one that will satisfy even the most stringent critic and if you are like me, keep you up at night anticipating your next visit. The pastas at Nello are hard to go wrong with, as offerings from Fettuccine Carbonara to Gnocchi Mona Lisa deliver a punch of authenticity and for lovers of treasures from the sea, everything is as fresh as the colorful high-energy and seemingly buoyant environment.
