Tommy Bahama, the iconic purveyor of island lifestyles, has logically hung their moniker over a set of extremely fine rums.  Packaged in beautifully crafted bottles that exude the elegance of their brand, these rums are certainly worthy of praise. They are produced on the tropical island of Barbados, the most easterly of all Caribbean islands and the birthplace of rum. With its warm temperatures and cooling trade winds it is the best environment possible to create this exquisite libation.  It only makes sense that a brand such as Tommy Bahama would choose this location to produce a fine lifestyle product of this sort. Made with clear, cool water and the finest molasses, Tommy Bahama rum is blended by a master distiller and aged in small batches. The family-owned distillery that was tapped for this task has been making award winning rums for over 80 years and is four generations deep.

There are two options available, a silver, “White Sand” and their answer to dark rum, “Golden Sun”. White Sand ($24.99 / 750 ml)  is aged for a minimum of two years and has a very clean and bright finish with hints of tropical fruit. It is perfect for mixing in your favorite cocktails such as a classic mojito and is a valuable addition to any liquor cabinet. Golden Sun ($26.99 / 750 ml)) is a blend of rums aged for a minimum of three years in oak barrels. It has an elegant fruity nose and a taste nuanced with hints of nuts and coffee. Ideally, this should be served straight, over ice.  You don’t mess with perfection.
